01 / THE BASICS
What Is the PSL Scale?
08ONE INFORMAL SCALE
The PSL scale is an informal 0–8 rating of facial appearance from online
looksmaxxing communities. “PSL” comes from the now-defunct PUAHate,
SlutHate and Lookism forums. It has no official formula or scientific
validation. Around 4 is the midpoint; cutoffs vary by site. Scores are not
comparable and say nothing about a person's worth.
A score describes a photo through one system. It does not define a
person.
PSL Scale vs. the "Looksmaxxing Scale"
The "looksmaxxing scale" is an informal name people use online, usually
for the same 0–8 PSL rating. It is not a separate, standardized
measurement. Different websites and discussions use different cutoffs,
and there is no official version of the scale. Here, the number maps to
the eight tiers defined by this site, shown below. Those labels help you
read this particular result; they are for entertainment only, not a
scientific assessment. This tool offers no appearance-changing advice.

How Our PSL Rating Works
A simple process. A result you can put in context.

browser prepares it for scoring.

score from 0–8. We match it to this site's tier chart.

Lighting, camera angle, distance and expression can change the result. AI
output may vary even for the same photo. The model may decline photos
without one clear, front-facing adult face.
04 / DIFFERENT SCALES, DIFFERENT MEANINGS
PSL Scale vs. 1–10 Attractiveness Test
A PSL rating uses a 0–8 scale, while many attractiveness tests use 1–10.
Their midpoints and distributions differ. Multiplying a PSL score to fit
another scale does not make the results equivalent. Even two PSL websites
may use different tier boundaries.

KEEP THE BIGGER PICTURE
Limitations of the PSL Scale
This informal scale is not scientifically validated. AI models and rating
communities can reflect cultural and racial biases. A single image misses
movement, expression and real-life context. Treat the number as a brief
curiosity, never as a verdict about your worth, health or personality.
05 / YOUR PHOTO, HANDLED WITH CARE
Privacy & Age Requirement
Curiosity should feel comfortable. Here's what happens to your photo, and
what stays out of your account.
Processed. Not added to your history.DescribePicture does not save your PSL photo.
01
Prepared on your device
The browser resizes your photo and removes image metadata.
02
Sent for scoring
The image is sent to Google Vertex AI. Provider handling and
retention follow Google's own terms; this does not promise zero
retention by Google.
03
Kept out of your account
The photo stays in request memory during processing. DescribePicture
does not write it to disk, an image bucket, account history, a
database or application logs.
What gets saved instead?
Request identifiers, a photo digest, your validated report and billing
records help prevent duplicate charges and recover a completed request.
The photo and raw model response are not stored. Removing the photo or
leaving this page releases the local preview. Each successful analysis
uses 1 credit from your shared balance, for guests and signed-in
accounts.
18+
A photo of you. With your permission. Upload only your own
photo that you have the right to use. Do not upload anyone under 18 or someone
else's photo. Age confirmation is required before selecting or submitting
a photo.
On this site's PSL scale chart, 4–<5 is Average, 5–<6 is Above Average, and 6 or more is High or above. Scores on a boundary count toward the higher tier, including 7.75–8 as Top. These tiers are defined by this site, for entertainment only, not a scientific assessment.
02 Is the PSL scale scientifically accurate?
No. There is no official formula or scientific validation. Results from different websites cannot be compared.
03 What does PSL stand for?
PSL comes from three now-defunct forums: PUAHate, SlutHate and Lookism.
04 Is the PSL scale test free? Do I need to log in?
Each successful PSL analysis costs 1 credit from your existing DescribePicture balance, for guests and signed-in accounts alike. Guests use the same shared guest credits as other tools; there is no separate PSL daily allowance. Failed analyses do not consume credits. You can explore the tier chart without using credits.
05 Do you store my photo?
DescribePicture does not save your PSL photo to a file, image bucket, account history or database. It is sent in memory to Google Vertex AI for scoring and discarded from the request when processing ends. Google processes the request under its own data governance terms; this is not a promise of zero retention by the provider. Request identifiers, a photo digest, your validated report and billing records are retained to prevent duplicate charges and recover a completed request; the photo and raw model response are not stored.
06 How should I prepare a photo for the PSL scale test?
Use a front-facing photo in even lighting, with a natural expression and no filters. Use a photo of yourself and avoid uploading anyone under 18.
07 Can I convert a PSL score to a 1–10 rating?
No direct conversion is valid. The two scales have different midpoints and distributions, and websites choose different cutoffs.
08 Is the PSL scale the same as the looksmaxxing scale?
"Looksmaxxing scale" is an informal name people use online, usually for the 0–8 PSL rating. There is no official version and sites use different cutoffs. This test gives a PSL score and a tier from this site's own chart, for entertainment only. It does not give looksmaxxing advice.
